The beginning
A Quaker merchant named Joseph Shipley built Rockwood between 1851-1854 to reflect the beauty of the English countryside through Gothic Revival architecture and impeccable landscape design. It later became the home of the Bringhurst Family. Both families and the way they lived are on display in the mansion for everyone to catch a glimpse of the lives they led.
